Xinhua convoy starts 12-nation Silk Road journey


OSH, Kyrgyzstan,   (Xinhua) — A convoy of ten vehicles carrying Xinhua reporters entered Kyrgyzstan on Thursday, starting its Silk Road news coverage journey to 12 nations in Central Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

The Xinhua convoy entered Kyrgyzstan from the Irkeshtam port at Kashgar, a commercial hub in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It will run over 120,000 kilometers to the Netherlands via eleven countries, including Iran, Turkey, Bulgaria and Germany.

It will also hold forums and other activities in European cities like Vienna, Frankfurt and Amsterdam.

The convoy is part of a global news coverage journey along the Belt and Road which was launched on June 17 by Xinhua in Luoyang City, Henan Province, China.
