Russia says waiting for U.S. answer on Syria deal after whole-day bilateral talks

GENEVA,  (Xinhua) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said late Friday night that his side was still waiting on U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to give an answer on a proposed Syria deal following day-long talks between both delegations.

Immediately after Lavrov’s statement, U.S. State Department spokesperson John Kirby indicated that Kerry was still holding discussions with Washington on “proposals we have been working on with Russia.”

These statements followed marathon talks here in a luxurious Geneva lakeside hotel, the same establishment both officials used two weeks ago to reach “clarity” on the way forward in enhancing cooperation between both countries.
